Learn all about the letter T with your child when you make this lowercase letter T craft for preschool kids. Our tree craft will help your child remember the shape and sound of the Letter T. Explore the world of trees and enjoy different activities to help practice the letter with the ideas in this article.
As you introduce a new letter to your child using these activities, spend a few minutes each day of the week reviewing the shape and sound of the letter.
Choose one or two rooms and look for items that begin with the letter T sound. You may find a television, toys, toothpicks, toilets, or a trundle bed, just to name a few. Have your student look and then just offer help or direction as needed. If your child enjoys the activity, continue to look for more items throughout your home.
On printer paper, draw the letter T in uppercase and letter case and make cards. You can probably put ten or so on a page and cut them apart. Then hide these around your home like you would Easter eggs and ask your child to find them.
Use window markers or window crayons to have your student write the letter T on windows, bathroom mirrors, or any glass surface. This allows your child to use large muscle groups and gross motor skills to write the letter. Young children have more control with gross motor muscle groups and this method also allows the child to experience the shape of the letter with their whole body. Another great option is sidewalk chalk on the driveway or sidewalk.
Make the Uppercase Letter T Craft and turn the uppercase letter into a tiger.
Practice drawing the letter T in the air. You can do both uppercase and lowercase letters. This helps your child practice mental imaging (picturing something in their minds) and large muscle movement.
Make the Letter T with a yoga pose for a whole-body learning experience. Yoga is amazing for kid’s core strength.
No matter what season of the year you can enjoy the trees with your children! This makes trees an ideal topic for study. If you study trees in winter, take a walk and look for bird nests and squirrel nests hidden among the branches. During the Spring, look for tiny buds appearing on the branches. In summer, look for different types of leaves and bark. In Fall, look at all the different colors and seeds falling. See how exciting this can be? Try these fun tree-themed learning activities.
