Some of my favorite books to read to my preschool kids are perfect for letter B week. From the classic Blueberries for Sal to the hysterical Barnyard Dance, you can not go wrong with this list of Letter B books for preschool. Even if you do no other seatwork with your little ones, read-aloud time is an essential and precious part of your day.
As I wrote this list out for you, I got a little nostalgic because so many of these I love. I’ve organized the list of letter b books by topic so you can pick and choose books or instead, pick and choose a topic to focus on for your letter B week. If you want a fun extension activity involving food, berries make the perfect, easy letter B snack – just grab a few berry pints at the grocery store and enjoy them together!
Blackberry Mouse by Matthew Grimsdale. A little mouse is greedy and selfish with his blackberries and treats his friends badly. Later, he is surprised when they come to his aid in a crisis in spite of his actions. He learns the true value of friendship.
Blackberry Ramble by Edith Thatcher. It’s Springtime and a little baby mouse is struggling to stay out of trouble. But — after a long day, she is finally ready for bed, and by the way, her parents are too. We can all relate to that right?
Blueberries for Sal by Robert McCloskey. Sal and her mother go blueberry picking on Blueberry Hill at the same time a little bear cub goes blueberry picking with his mother. Two toddlers on the hill with two slightly distracted mothers and the resulting mix-up build to a climactic ending and keep little ones glued to each page as you read. This is a classic you may remember from your own childhood, but the story never gets old.
Blueberries for the Queen by John and Katherine Paterson. A true story, about a little boy and the queen who moves in next door. Even though he is stuck at home and too little to fight during the war, a little boy finds a way to do something meaningful.
